Every year about this time, conversations about marketing revolve around the latest trends, marketing tech, and what’s hot for the new year. With brands clamoring for awareness, leads, and engagement in 2024, these conversations happen even more often. New platforms are popping up, the algorithms are adjusting (again), and AI is changing the game. So, what’s our advice on the hot new trend for the months ahead?
Double down on your message.
We’ve talked about this on podcasts and written about it here, and if you’ve spent any time in proximity to OrangeBall, you know that storytelling is our go-to. No, there’s nothing sexy about messaging, but how we tell our brands’ stories is the key to all marketing. From building awareness to generating leads, if your story is weak, your results will be as well.
With that in mind, here are three things to consider when it comes to sharing your brand’s story in 2024…
- What changed for your business in 2023, and have you evolved your story to match that change in 2024? Your business/organization changed in 2023. That’s a fact, and with that in mind, we need to make sure the stories we’re telling about our businesses and the products/services we offer also change. If we don’t invest time in this, we’re creating disconnects, creating gaps between what we offer and the customers we’re trying to connect with.
- Are there success stories from 2023 that we can share in 2024? Sharing case studies and success stories is one of the most impactful of all the ways we can communicate who we are, what we do, and why people should care. Case studies, where we connect the challenges we solve and the solutions we offer, are easier to remember and more sticky to our prospects.
- How can we weave Purpose, Vision, and Core Value references into our 2024 brand storytelling? Taking a step beyond our products and services and using brand stories to connect customers and prospects with our purpose, vision, and core values is key. People buy from people, not companies; this is an easy way to showcase your brand’s personality and “why.”
As you’re stepping into the new year, make one of your goals for 2024 to tell your story more clearly. There’s nothing trendy about this strategy, but it’s guaranteed to be the best marketing hack of 2024. And once you have this in place, it will make all of your other 2024 marketing strategies even stronger.
